MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

KATIE TAYLOR is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and works full-time at the University of Illinois in the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. She has been an instructor for the State of Illinois Foodservice Sanitation Course since 2009. Katie is excited to work with students at Parkland to help them learn proper sanitation procedures and increase their knowledge to help ensure safe practices in their job and at home.

Foodservice Sanitation Certification

Fulfill the Illinois certification requirement for food handlers with Katie Taylor. Topics include food-borne illness, time-temperature control, personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitizing, HACCP, food safety, preparation and serving, cross-contamination, government regulations, and more.

 

Effective July 1, 2014, training hour requirements for Foodservice Sanitation courses are reduced from 15 hours to 8 hours!  Recertification now requires students to complete an 8-hour Food Service Sanitation course and exam every 5 years.

If you fail to pass the exam the first time, you can retake the exam during the next class offering.  The fee to retake the exam is $49. To register for a retake, please use course number WBT 611.  You can retake the exam two times before being required to take the entire course over.

 

Which languages are the exams available?

The exam is available in English, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Modern Chinese, Korean and Japanese..  The test is given in English unless prior arrangements have been made to take the test in a different language. The course is taught in English only.
