The Spirit of Nursing

The Nursing role is robust and well beyond the treatment of symptoms, it is about treating the whole person.  Physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially, nursing plays an important role in our patients and our community.  In honor of Sister Julia, this inaugural conference will showcase and honor the Nursing profession in the rapidly-changing healthcare environment.

Meet Sister Julia Moriarty

Sister Julia Moriarty began her nursing training in 1938 and entered religious life the following year.  Due to her passion for the nursing role, she was able to start Parkland College's nursing program and then went on to serve Presence Covenant Medical Center for 46 years.  The Presence Covenant Medical Center Foundation started a scholarship fund for nursing students at Parkland College in honor of Sister Julia Moriarty, the conference proceeds will go to support the scholarship fund.
