Carolyn Ragsdale has been employed at Parkland since 1989 and employed as a surgical technologist since 1979. She has also served as Assistant to the Chair of Health Professions and received the 2010 NISOD Teaching Excellence Award winner at Parkland College.
Carolyn states that teaching in a health career allows her see the student progress from novice to a colleague in the operating room. She is proud to be "someone that students feel they can easily approach, that they can trust to help them, and that they see as a willing and able partner in helping them to be successful."
Graduates of accredited surgical technology, preparing for the National Surgical Technology Certification Exam, will review and explore topics including surgical specialties, preoperative preparation of the surgical patient, intraoperative procedures and protocol for the surgical patient, post-operative care of the surgical patient, and surgical equipment and maintenance with Carolyn Ragsdale, CST MA. In addition, participants will explore a brief review of anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology related to surgical technology.
