Join Candice Chaffee and explore the introduction to medicinal herbs and their history of use in healing. Discover how herbs work in the human body, herbal properties and characteristics,

The Wellness Garden: Making Herbal Infusions, Tinctures, and Other Natural Body Care Products |
Discover how to make natural products from herbs, flowers, and plants from the garden with Sara Holmes. Massage therapists and others will explore why certain plants are chosen for their therapeutic properties and others are not. Hands-on activities will allow for making plant-infused oils for massage, body oils, sugar/salts scrubs, and tinctures.

The Science of Stress |
Many physiological responses to stress are initially protective but devastating when applied in the long term. Join Douglas Nelson and discover the fascinating ways chronic stress affects various systems of the body. Explore the effects of stress on the immune system, digestion, the heart, reproduction, and also on mental functions such as memory, learning, and depression. This course does not promote any particular method of approach to stress reduction but asserts that a deeper understanding of the physiology of stress will help you understand and manage stress more effectively.

Professional Ethics & Boundaries for Massage & Body Work Therapists |
In a profession where touch therapy is part of the healing process, it is imperative that therapists reinforce their knowledge in establishing boundaries. Sara Holmes will guide you through creating a safe and professional environment, enhancing judgement skills, improving client communication skills, establishing and protecting sexual boundaries, learning how to deal with dual relationships and developing a caring, healthy, and professional environment based on writing and implementing a business ethics mission statement.
This course is intended to satisfy the required four hours of training in Ethics for Massage Therapists every two years which also includes an additional two hours of roles and boundaries.

Essential Oils for Chakra Balancing and Energy Work |
Essential Oils have been used in the Ayurvedic and Traditional chinese Medicine Healing traditions for over 5,000 years. Part of this tradition includes the balancing of the seven energy centers, know as the chakras, integral to these healing modalities. Explore the history of chakra theory with Sara Holmes to give you a foundation for the purpose of chakra balancing. You will learn the seven basic chakras, their association with the body's organs, emotional connections, and attunement. Learn the specific essential oils associated with each chakra; and which oils are best for each. Discover how to prepare appropriate blends for the chakras and learn how to apply these blends effectively for massage, reflexology, and other boyd therapies.

Explore effective and efficient soft-tissue treatment for conditions affecting the lower extremity. Douglas Nelson will address various presentations of knee pain, tightness in the calf, and foot conditions like plantar fasciitis.

PNMT for the Arms and Hands |
In this one-day intensive session, examine hand and arm issues including repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and other problems seen in everyday clinical practice. Arm and hand problems are extremely interesting and clearly in the soft-tissue domain, yet many therapists are not well familiar with the anatomy and possible pathologies. This is a complex area, but who better to treat it than people who use their hands as the tools for healing? Doug Nelson will take you to the next level of effectiveness with RSI problems. You will assess specific muscles for individual involvement and treat each appropriately.
Participants are required to bring their own massage table.

Aroma Facials and Skin Care with Essential Oils |
Join Sara Holmes in a discovery of aromatherapy and how it can be used for holistic beauty and skin care as part of a business practice. Licensed massage therapists will discover how to
prepare and give all natural aroma facials. Use essential oils and other natural ingredients to make a skin cleanser, sugar scrub, skin toner, and prepare a specific massage oil blend for your client's facial massage.

Aromatherapy For Bodyworkers |
Sara Holmes will show massage therapists and bodyworkers how to integrate aromatherapy into their practice. Topics include: basic aromatherapy, blending, pathways to the body, integration with bodywork, essential oils data, and working within a holistic framework. You must be a licensed massage therapist or a certified bodyworker to participate in this class. This course fulfills the State of Illinois requirement for Licensed Massage Therapists to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years.
