A certified/registered aromatherapist and massage therapist, SARA HOLMES is also a NCBTMB-approved provider with more than 10 years’ experience in healthcare. She is owner of Botanical Healing Arts and a contributing writer for the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy. Her professional memberships include the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, the Alliance of International Aromatherapists, and Aromatics in Action. Through CE Institute of Illinois, Holmes provides continuing education in massage and aromatherapy to therapists in Illinois’ top ten spas as well as to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
MARY WOLTERS has been practicing yoga since 1997 andteaching since 2001. She has studied with master yoga teachers from around the world. Mary has taken teacher trainings with various well known instructors in Chicago since 2001 (such as Gary Kraftsow of Vini-Yoga, SeaneCorn, Natasha Rizopolous, Scott Blossom, Kino McGregor, and Lino Miele). She has been most inspired by several prana vinyasa flow teacher trainings with master yoga teacher Shiva Rea. Mary completed her Yoga Alliance Certification through Moksha Yoga School in 2007 and continues to take a regular pilgrimage. Committed to the process of learning, she believes that we are all students of what our life has to teach us. Sharing knowledge of yoga’s 5,000 year old tradition gives her great joy. She loves to incorporate the knowledge of the past (asanas, meditation, bandhas, mantra and mudras) with what is relevant in the here and now. Mary is also a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist (NCTMB), studying a wide range of massage modalities. She carries a License to practice Massage Therapy in Illinois and California. She is an accredited Thai Yoga Massage Therapist. “Lazy Man’s Yoga," as it is referred to in Thailand, is a form of partner yoga that combines gentle stretching, acupressure, and breath work in one beautiful and meditative experience. The effects of Thai Yoga Therapy include more energy and a deep sense of relaxation.
In May of 2009, Mary found the current location for Green Yoga Spa. One year later, she expanded the spa from one to four treatment rooms. In July, 2011 Mary was trained in Ashiatsu: Oriental Bar Therapy alongside Cheryl Louviere and Jen Thomson. We are very proud to be the first spa in Champaign-Urbana to offer the deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet.
Debbie DeNardo, BS, LMT, NCTMB, earned her BS degree fromNorthern Illinois University and received her massage therapy education at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. After 20 years of dedicated professional and managerial work in the insurance industry, Debbie’spassion for healing and helping others led her into the field of massage therapy. She owns and operates a home based private practice, Massage Solutions, LLC. Debbie has over 13 years of massage experience and is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
In 2008, in addition to her massage work, Debbie began working as a teaching assistant and marketing manager to Lolita Knight, founder of Fijian Massage, Chinese Facial Massage and Soft Touch Island Massage. During this time she worked closely with Lolita, assisting in the development of new techniques such as those found in Soft Touch Island Massage & Massage Tools. Now a certified instructor and approved provider of NCBTMB continuing education courses, Debbie is continuing Lolita’s legacy by bringing unique and beneficial classes to the massage community as Lolita enjoys retirement. Debbie’s blend of technique, knowledge and sense of fun translates well into a creative, hands-on class environment.

Bringing a partner is helpful, but not necessary. Please wear comfortable clothes that stretch. Eating lightly on this day is recommended. Drink plenty of water, especially after the workshop. No experience in yoga or massage is necessary. If you own a yoga mat, small pillow and firm blanket, please bring them to class. Please bring an open heart and mind. Bringing a sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
