Traffic Safety Program - Training Locations
I received a ticket in Champaign, Douglas, or Piatt County and I would like to take my course at a location other than Parkland College...
If you are participating in the Traffic Safety Program because of a single ticket in Champaign, Douglas, or Piatt County, but you do not live in or near these counties, you are permitted to attend your 4-hour Defensive Driving Course at select alternate locations.
You must attend a 4-hour Defensive Driving Course sponsored by the National Safety Council. If you were under the age of 25 on the date you received your ticket, then you must attend the National Safety Council's "Alive at 25" course. Drivers who were age 25 or older on the date of the ticket, must attend the National Safety Council's "DDC-4" course.
By electing to take your course at a location other than Parkland College, it is your responsibility to find an approved alternate training center and to contact that training center to arrange your registration. The lists of Illinois approved alternate training centers for both the "Alive at 25" and "DDC-4" courses are provided below.
|Course:||State:||List of Approved Training Centers:|
|DDC-4||Illinois||National Safety Council DDC-4 Training Locations|
|"Alive at 25"||Illinois||National Safety Council "Alive at 25" Training Locations|

You may also call the National Safety Council at (800) 621-7615 to determine approved locations in your state. If there is not an approved training center near you, contact your county’s Circuit Clerk’s office and they can assist you further in finding a local training location.
Champaign, Douglas, and Piatt counties contract with Parkland College to guarantee you a seat in one of Parkland’s classes. The $42 program fee you pay to the these counties covers the cost of the course at Parkland College. However, court fees are non-refundable and not transferable. Therefore, if you choose to take your course at a location other than Parkland College, that location will assess its own registration fee in addition to the program fee paid to your ticketing county. If you take the course at a location other than Parkland, you must pay both your $42 program fee to Champaign, Douglas, or Piatt County, and the registration fee for the alternate training center.
Upon completion of your Defensive Driving course, the training center will issue you a Certificate of Completion. It is your responsibility to submit your original Certificate of Completion to the Circuit Clerk's office in your ticketing county by your deadline date. If the Circuit Clerk's office does not receive your Certificate by your deadline date, you will not receive credit for the program.
If you do not know your deadline date, please contact the Traffic Safety Program office at
217-353-2104. The mailing addresses for the Circuit Clerk's offices in Champaign, Douglas, and Piatt counties can be found on our Court Information page.
If you received a traffic ticket in a county other than Champaign, Douglas, or Piatt counties, it may be possible to complete your Defensive Driving Course at Parkland College. Please consult the Circuit Clerk's office in your ticketing county to determine if you are eligible to attend the course at Parkland and, if so, which course you are required to take. Parkland cannot make these determinations. Contact information for Illinois Circuit Clerk offices can be found at the Illinois Association of Court Clerks website.
